Julie – Harpenden Luton Clinic

I used to teach “special” teenagers in a large secondary school. I was good at my job because I am a very caring person. When my mother got cancer I moved her in with me and took care of her 24 hours a day. Five years and four operations later we beat the cancer. Meanwhile my weight yo-yoed by trying every diet that existed (points & red/green days) following diet books or the gym. Free vegetables like cabbage did not work for me I put on extra weight after a week of cabbage soup. Nobody believed me and I was told I must be cheating or sleep-eating! I went up four dress sizes, my knees were killing me walking up the stairs. The nurse at the surgery checked my thyroid levels and told me it was OK, I was border line. Everything changed when I met a friend, who used to be quite large, at a New Year’s Eve party. She didn’t just look thinner, she looked radiant. When she told me all about it I decided it was worth travelling forty minutes to get to the nearest SureSlim.

Unlike the standard tests, the SureSlim blood test results showed my thyroid problem clearly. I started my eating plan (written especially for me!) and the weight that could not be shifted before started to come off regularly. I became a new person. My friends wanted to try the programme but complained that they could not go so far every week to see the consultant. That’s when I first thought of putting my caring attitude and experience into a SureSlim practise. I had to make sure of two things. First I waited for my mother’s last test results to be clear, then I waited to see if I put the weight back on, I didn’t. At that point I changed my career from teaching to running my own SureSlim clinic. Now I am focusing my caring and teaching onto my clients by making sure they concentrate on themselves and learn how to live a healthier lifestyle. I never felt so valued and satisfied in a job before.
