I used to teach “special” teenagers in a large secondary school. I was good at my job because I am a very caring person. When my mother got cancer I moved her in with me and took care of her 24 hours a day. Five years and four operations later we beat the cancer. Meanwhile my weight yo-yoed by trying every diet that existed (points & red/green days) following diet books or the gym. Free vegetables like cabbage did not work for me I put on extra weight after a week of cabbage soup. Nobody believed me and I was told I must be cheating or sleep-eating! I went up four dress sizes, my knees were killing me walking up the stairs. The nurse at the surgery checked my thyroid levels and told me it was OK, I was border line. Everything changed when I met a friend, who used to be quite large, at a New Year’s Eve party. She didn’t just look thinner, she looked radiant. When she told me all about it I decided it was worth travelling forty minutes to get to the nearest SureSlim.

Unlike the standard tests, the SureSlim blood test results showed my thyroid problem clearly. I started my eating plan (written especially for me!) and the weight that could not be shifted before started to come off regularly. I became a new person. My friends wanted to try the programme but complained that they could not go so far every week to see the consultant. That’s when I first thought of putting my caring attitude and experience into a SureSlim practise. I had to make sure of two things. First I waited for my mother’s last test results to be clear, then I waited to see if I put the weight back on, I didn’t. At that point I changed my career from teaching to running my own SureSlim clinic. Now I am focusing my caring and teaching onto my clients by making sure they concentrate on themselves and learn how to live a healthier lifestyle. I never felt so valued and satisfied in a job before.

In 2000 I was diagnosed with Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). During my consultations with various doctors I was told that the side effects of PCOS included weight fluctuations and that it could only be managed - there was nothing they could do. I have tried numerous diet plans and though I lost some weight, it was not significant weight loss or a constant thing so I would become frustrated and would comfort eat; therefore, as a consequence, I would put the weight back on. In 2005 my friend and I joined a gym and through watching our eating habits and toning up at the gym I lost weight. Again, it never seemed to be a constant and encouraging weight loss so I became despondent and began to eat unhealthily again. Though I tried these diets and they worked to a degree, the process was slow and arduous. I felt that due to the PCOS I was fighting a losing battle and due to the imbalance of my hormones I would never be thin.

In April 2008 I saw the SureSlim advert in the newspaper and my husband and I went to an information session on how it worked, what I needed to do and of course the decider - the cost. My husband was sceptical at first, but listening to the presentation and Joanne answering his questions fully and confidently, he was happy with me signing up to the diet programme. That evening was the turning point, I haven't looked back and neither has my husband!

Through the constant support of the SureSlim team and the consultations I have lost 42lbs and a total of 25" of body fat in 5 months. I was a size 16 dress size and am now size 8/10; I am almost half the woman I used to be! I am now on the LifeStyle plan and still have fortnightly meetings with my consultant, so even though I have lost the weight I still feel I am being supported and encouraged to keep the weight off. I am healthy, feeling fitter and younger and I am happy with my body for the first time since I was 18. This summer we bought a dog and we have begun to enjoy physical activities as a family in which I am happy and confident to participate - before my weight loss I always thought I looked like a space-hopper bouncing around rather than a mother enjoying her children. I can safely say the happiness the SureSlim diet has brought me makes it worth every penny!

When I got married 12 years ago I weighed 10st 4lb. After 3 years and having my son I discovered that I had put on about 3 stone, so for the last 9 years I have been trying various diets, all which had some effect for a little while, but I never lost more than half a stone. I joined an exercise class with my friend, and later the gym for a couple of years but never achieved any significant results long term.

A friend of mine had mentioned that she joined SureSlim and lost over 2 stone in 3 months and she wasn’t as large as me to start with. I mentioned this to my husband who said “it’s probably just another diet scam that works for some women who would have lost weight on any diet plan” However, he did some research and also heard from the hospital where he works that various people had tried it and achieved good results. I joined, with a friend, and my goal weight was 10½ stone. I wanted to lose as much as possible before my 40th birthday in 3 months time. Each time I got weighed I’d lost pounds and inches which was really good and encouraging. On my birthday I weighed in at 10st 8lbs and had lost 10 inches from my waist.

I thought the SureSlim plan was expensive to start with and this was probably a factor in sticking with it, but it is cheaper than a year’s membership at the gym and it works. I’m now on the LifeStyle plan to maintain my weight loss and hovering around the 10st 5lb. For the first time in 9 years I’m happy with my figure again!

I have tried many other diets over the years, but I have never managed to stick to them due to the lack of willpower and persistently feeling hungry! As a final straw I decided to try the SureSlim eating plan and I'm so glad I did! I started SureSlim weighing 12stone 5lbs and wanted to shed at least 2stone 5lbs, the blood tests discovered that I had high cholesterol and high carbohydrate sensitivity, so the SureSlim team designed an eating plan for me to combat these issues, increase my weight loss and reduce my cravings in between meals! Whilst the first week was the hardest I was determined to stick rigidly to the plan, so when I got weighed and had lost a massive 7lbs in 1 week it fuelled my motivation and encouraged me to continue. Whilst I obviously had to make some sacrifices and cut back on some foods and drinks, I can still have them, just in smaller quantities and this makes them all the more enjoyable when I do treat myself. The plan made me aware of portion control and helped me realise some things I was putting into my body were not healthy for it. The re-education of my eating habits is what will ensure I continue to eat and live the SureSlim way. Go on try it - it is so easy to follow and to stick to!

I suffer with Irritable Bowel Syndrome and a few years ago I gained a lot of weight through not eating the right foods and not being able to control my IBS. This resulted in me not only gaining weight but I also started to have breathing problems and stuggled to exercise. I was recommended SureSlim by a family friend after seeing the results it had with her and joined straight away! I found it hard to adjust at first but I had been so ill with IBS over the years my determination helped me through the hard times, and once I started to see the weight drop off I finally started to feel myself again. Six months after starting SureSlim I have lost 20 inches and 3 stone in weight and I feel amazing again, my strength and fitness is back. I feel so happy thanks to SureSlim, it is the only diet that has helped me to understand and control my IBS and learn to live with it!

I was over the moon when I found out I was pregnant. I wanted to do the best I could to have a healthy baby, and then I found SureSlim. The plan made me feel great through out my pregnancy; people said that I was glowing. Now after giving birth I have my best figure ever, I'm definitely more a Yummy Mummy than a Slummy one!

Like many women I gained weight after having children. Unfortunately as my children grew, so did I! Over 20 years I had gradually gained 5 stone, and with so much weight to lose there didn’t appear to be any light at the end of my tunnel. Over the years I have tried every diet out there, counting points, different coloured days, drinking shakes, cabbage soup YUK! and so on.

I would start off really well but by week 3 or 4 half a pound lost, 2 pounds gained, sitting in a room full of people to be weighed, clapping because you ate a ryvita… then after weigh night the rush to the chippie!! we’ve all been there. So the spiral would start all over again, and what little weight I had lost would come straight back on, and then some. Now in my late 40’s friends have said “it’s harder to loose weight as you get older” middle age spread and so on, and I thought that was true. The bigger I became the more breathless, hot and uncomfortable I was, my real concerns turned to health issues that come from being overweight. I needed help. In October 2008 the dreaded holiday photos arrived and I looked at myself, how big I had become, I was over 16 stone and I was horrified. I had seen a few ad’s in the local papers about SureSlim so went on line to read more about them. I read the success stories wishing like we all do that it could be me. I read that people had lost stone upon stone with the SureSlim plan, and in such small periods of time. I liked that there were no groups just one on one sessions. It was about educating yourself about foods, eating normal foods, changing your metabolism so it works correctly. It was a completely new approach, and the word 'DIET' was never mentioned. I was feeling really low about my weight and felt like this was my last chance, so I booked a free consultation with the SureSlim consultant. She explained that I would have a blood test first to check my cholesterol, glucose, liver & kidney function etc. Food dislikes and medication are taken into account, and from the blood test they would personalise a food plan for me.

I started in October and by Christmas had lost over 2 stones. Every month I have lost between 10 and 14 pounds continuously. I have gone from a size 22/24 and now fit into a 12 jean & 14 top and have lost 5 stones in seven months, I have a little left to go, but I know for sure its coming off. The huge difference now is my metabolism has changed so if I go out for dinner or have a night on the town, within a couple of days my weight is back to normal because the SureSlim plan has changed me both inside and out. I am just an ordinary mum who has struggled with weight for so many years. There is no magic wand just a plan that works, if you stick with it, the weight just keeps falling off. Nothing has worked for me in all those years, so truly believe if I can do this THEN YOU CAN. I am the success story I never ever dreamed I would be and in just 7 months. I am healthy & happy and for the first time in 20 years, looking forward to the summer!

Milena - Warwick clinic

I have been overweight ever since I was a young girl. I could put it down to when my family first emigrated from South America to Canada in 1992, I was 10 years old. From then, growing up in the fast food culture, along with enjoying mom’s South American cooking the weight began to pile on. It would be easy for me to blame all the big fast food chains and say that they should all have more responsibility for young kids’ diets, and while that may be partly true, I also believe that my lack of confidence, low self esteem and zero will power, contributed massively to my bad eating habits. Despite the weight gain, I was still an active teenager, participating in sports such as volleyball and basketball. But I was kidding myself into thinking that just because I played sports I would be able to eat junk food and get away with. I also thought that my height 5’9” would help me carry the weight and make it less noticeable to others. It was a belief I carried with me all these years; denial was my best friend. Don’t get me wrong, I was secretly still depressed about not being able to buy nice clothes and fit into “normal” sizes, and I went on to try other diets. While I saw some immediate results, I would plateau and quickly become discouraged by them. Depressed and angry I would carry on eating. It wasn’t until February 2008 that I first read about SureSlim and how it had helped this woman shed all this weight and still manage to maintain it. I admit I was sceptical, but as I had nothing else to lose and the consultation was free, I decided to give it a go. I was very determined not to get signed up for anything straight away; I didn’t want to be pushed into anything I was unsure of, but Sigrun, who conducted my initial consultation was very open about the program, straight forward about what it entailed and about the cost. I told her I would go away and think about it and discuss it with my family. On a trip back home to Canada in March that year, an encounter with a doctor spurred me to do something about my weight, basically I was slowly ruining my body and I was told that if I wanted to start a family I would need to start losing the weight. We had discussed the possibility of having children soon and it occurred to me that if I wanted to do so I would need to start looking after myself. I returned from Canada determined, and on June 9th (a day before my birthday) I had my first assessment. I have not regretted one single moment since I began. My initial horror of having to cut certain foods I liked was soon diminished when the first signs of weight loss appeared. Every week when I got on their scales I would see a difference, and after the first month I had lost a stone!! I had never experienced that feeling before. Soon, everyone was noticing and saying how well I looked. My clothes began to hang off me, and I was actually happy about myself, something I had not experienced for a very long time. By December I had reached the four stone mark, but I began to fear that with Christmas I would soon pile it all back on. However, I am happy to say that none of my fears were realized, if anything it was easy to keep the diet going while having some “free diet” days and still kept losing some more weight. I have another half stone to lose in order to reach my goal. I have gone down from a size 20 to a healthy 14, and I have also lost inches off my chest, waist and hips. I need to say that without the amazing support I received from Sigrun and Jo at Sureslim Warwick, as well as the constant encouragement from family and friends, I would not have been able to achieve any of this.

Linda - Leeds North clinic

Typical of many, I had tried every diet programme under the sun – sometimes losing weight – sometimes not, but always managing to put the weight back on with added interest. I went along to SureSlim Leeds North and my consultant explained how the eating plan would result in rapid and lasting weight loss. The plan was very simple, healthy meals made with fresh food with everything being available from the local supermarket. Since beginning the plan (9 months ago) I have lost just over 4 stone and 31 inches. My body image has changed beyond recognition, my confidence levels have soared, I feel well and healthy and shopping for clothes is a joy. On a more serious note a recent blood test has shown that my high cholesterol levels have reduced significantly – much to the delight of my doctor! I now see SureSlim once every two weeks and they are always there with unconditional support. It is this support and the SureSlim lifestyle programme that means I have all the tools to maintain my weight and I am confident that I will never again have feelings of depression about my size!
