About the Clinic

SureSlim Bedford is run by husband and wife team Joanne and Steve Mulliner. I, Joanne am a registered nurse and my husband Steve is a Biomedical Scientist in English a medical laboratory scientist! Indeed it was through Steve’s laboratory providing a testing service for SureSlim that we first became interested and extended the laboratory to provide testing and the SureSlim clinic under one roof some 5 years ago.

Through testing the blood we knew that the SureSlim plan was medically backed but were further convinced when repeat bloods showed dramatic improvements in blood glucose and cholesterol.

I researched the SureSlim diet and found it to be healthy with no “gimmicks” such as pills, potions, milk shakes, etc but based on normal food – food that could be bought from the supermarket. SureSlim was a bona-fide operation and we wanted to be involved.

Of course, the “proof of the pudding is in the eating” so both Steve and I embarked on a SureSlim plan ourselves.   We needed to make some changes to embrace a healthy lifestyle, Steve needed to lose weight and I needed to pick up a few pounds having always struggled to maintain my weight.   I remember once being very upset when asked if I was anorexic!

When starting the plan we each had our bloods tested and though my tests were normal, Steve had quite a shock. Remember he is a medical laboratory scientist! “My blood results sent a shiver down my spine,” he said. ”My cholesterol levels were grossly abnormal and my fasting glucose was also towards the higher end of normal – a contender for type two diabetes”.

When I started my plan I weighed in at an unhealthy 7st 12lb with a BMI of 18.6 (underweight) following the plan I am happy to say I now weigh 9st 2lb with a healthier BMI of 21.6 and am able to maintain that weight.

Our plans were individually tailored for us and with the motivation and guidance from our SureSlim consultant Steve lost 13lbs and reached his goal weight in three weeks.   His weight loss in such a short period of time was very encouraging, especially eating three good size meals a day. Moreover his repeat blood test results showed a significant improvement in his glucose and cholesterol levels.   More surprised than Steve was his GP who was about to prescribe Steve statins before seeing the results!

SureSlim Bedford was opened by the Mayor in August 2005 and is one of the UK’s busiest clinics having enrolled over 1200 clients with fantastic results.

Steve and I find it extremely satisfying to see clients lose weight, reduce or stop medication, feel great and gain a new confidence in their appearance and many local GPs are also happy as their patients are reaping the benefits of a healthier lifestyle and reduction of medications.
